The ‘Save a Life for Scotland’ board game is a fun and educational game to learn about cardiac arrest!

In this game, you’ll learn how to save a life by following the ‘Chain of Survival’ and what can affect survival outcomes. The Chain of Survival is a series of actions that need to happen quickly for someone to recover after having an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and includes:

  • Community Readiness
  • Early Recognition and Call for Help
  • CPR
  • Defibrillation
  • Life after Cardiac Arrest

This game is suitable for players aged 10 or above.

Step 1: Click the link below to download the file.

Step 2: In your printer settings, ensure the ‘Print on both sides’ setting is unselected. You want to print the file as two single-sided A4 pages.

Step 3: Tape together the two A4 pages to create your game board.

Step 1: Click the link below to download the file.

Step 2: In your printer settings, select the ‘Print on both sides of paper’ and ‘Flip on short edge’ setting. To ensure your cards print right side up on both sides, the ‘flip on short edge’ printer setting needs to be selected.

Step 3: Cut out the 25 discussion cards, 5 chain cards, and heart piece to track lifepoints.

Step 4: Place the above items on their allocated space on the game board.

Step 2: In your printer settings, select the “Print on both sides of paper” and “Flip on short edge” setting. To ensure your booklet prints right side up for all pages, the ‘flip on short edge’ printer setting needs to be selected.


Step 3: Fold the printed pages in half to create your booklet. Staple the spine of the booklet to keep the pages in place.
